[00:00:00] What's up, Primos, Primas, and Primes? Welcome to my, My Primos, My Primos, My Primo Podcast. My name is Freddy. My name is Kevin Garcia. My name is Elia Maria Matriz. This is Chukuma, whenever I can make it. My Primos Podcast discusses all things fandom and pop culture. From comic books, movies, to whatever obsession we have this week. But with the Latine, Latine, Latine perspective. Remember, we're all Primos. We're all Primes. We're all Primos. No matter what part of the world we're from.
[00:00:35] Ke'unda Primos, Primosy Primas. Welcome to My Primos Podcast.
[00:00:43] Wow. You sound like the AI twang voice.
[00:00:45] No, keep going. Keep going. No, no. Introduce me.
[00:00:47] Let's do it. Let me go ahead.
[00:00:48] Keep going. I was already just lying. Now I can introduce you.
[00:00:51] Introduce me.
[00:00:53] Joining us today is my primo and yours, Kevin Garcia.com.
[00:01:01] Hello.
[00:01:02] I didn't finish.
[00:01:04] Oh.
[00:01:04] Say hi, Kevin.
[00:01:08] Hello.
[00:01:10] Hello.
[00:01:10] Hello.
[00:01:11] Can you hear me?
[00:01:12] I can hear you. Thank you so much for joining me.
[00:01:14] What do you sound like Mark Maron? I don't know what I'm hearing.
[00:01:16] Can you hear me?
[00:01:17] I can hear you.
[00:01:19] Can you?
[00:01:20] I can.
[00:01:22] Oh.
[00:01:22] Okay.
[00:01:23] I can.
[00:01:24] I'm very excited to be here today.
[00:01:27] And also-
[00:01:27] I'm so glad. As am I. Can you tell?
[00:01:32] I'm going to leave that in, by the way.
[00:01:34] No.
[00:01:34] That's going to be the intro.
[00:01:35] And welcome to the show, Primo.
[00:01:36] What a great intro by Elia at Spice Illustrations.
[00:01:41] And who else is with us today?
[00:01:43] I think we have another primo here.
[00:01:46] Our good primo, Freddie.
[00:01:49] Say hi, Freddie.
[00:01:51] What's up, primos?
[00:01:52] I don't play that game.
[00:01:54] I don't play that high.
[00:01:55] Okay.
[00:01:55] Well, we're not playing anymore.
[00:01:58] Sorry.
[00:01:58] No, man.
[00:02:00] I'm not having fun anymore.
[00:02:01] No, but welcome, welcome back to the show.
[00:02:03] I love that intro by Elia.
[00:02:05] And I've always wondered that.
[00:02:06] Me and my wife were talking the other day.
[00:02:08] I saw somebody making fun of podcasters and they all go like,
[00:02:13] the aborigine music of the tribe of New Guinea will play us out on this week's episode
[00:02:20] brought to you by Farmer John.
[00:02:23] Can I just say, Elia, can you with me just say, good times, good times.
[00:02:27] Good times.
[00:02:28] Good times.
[00:02:28] Good times.
[00:02:29] Anybody get that reference?
[00:02:30] Yeah.
[00:02:31] No.
[00:02:32] Ah, damn.
[00:02:33] In the early days of podcasting, Saturday Night Live had a sketch where they just had the
[00:02:37] two of the ladies.
[00:02:37] Oh, yes.
[00:02:38] Good times.
[00:02:39] Good times.
[00:02:40] Good times.
[00:02:41] Oh, yeah.
[00:02:41] I remember that.
[00:02:42] I love that making fun of the podcasters that like grab their mic and they're like,
[00:02:46] hold on, let me tell you, I need to talk, I need to talk, please, just let
[00:02:49] me, and it's like, bro, chill.
[00:02:51] That's what I need to say.
[00:02:53] That's the same thing as like the YouTubers that go like, have you seen this amazing
[00:02:58] thing?
[00:02:59] And it zooms in and it was like, oh, like, I was like, whoa.
[00:03:02] It's like, you won't believe the third thing we have to say tonight.
[00:03:06] You're right.
[00:03:07] I'm going to get number three.
[00:03:07] The second one.
[00:03:08] Yeah.
[00:03:09] That's the shitty part.
[00:03:13] Look what I found.
[00:03:14] What you found?
[00:03:15] My wife handed me a prop.
[00:03:17] Oh, look at him.
[00:03:19] He's so cute.
[00:03:20] You know where I got this?
[00:03:21] I would never underestimate him.
[00:03:24] Mix-American.
[00:03:26] Oh my God, which is coming up.
[00:03:28] I'm so excited.
[00:03:30] I got a Chapolin pin at Mix-American actually.
[00:03:32] So we're on the show.
[00:03:33] I think I got something Chapolin related there too.
[00:03:36] I'm pretty sure.
[00:03:38] It's like a baby Chapolin con, you know, baby Chapolin.
[00:03:41] It is.
[00:03:41] It's micro Chapolin con actually.
[00:03:44] Micro because Chapolin is already small.
[00:03:46] Yeah.
[00:03:46] I like that.
[00:03:48] No, Mix-American.
[00:03:49] Let's just talk about that.
[00:03:50] Primos.
[00:03:51] You know, this, this recording is going to be out the week of Mix-American.
[00:03:54] Yeah.
[00:03:55] By the time you listen to this, we would be on our way to Mix-American and we hope
[00:04:00] that you all will join us there.
[00:04:01] Of course, check them out at Mix-American for all the information.
[00:04:04] And of course, all our socials.
[00:04:05] Well, I know we're all going to be posting.
[00:04:07] We're all going to be sharing.
[00:04:08] We all have a hand in the show.
[00:04:09] I'll be traveling the farthest.
[00:04:11] You are such a track.
[00:04:12] Don't you live like down the street?
[00:04:14] I do live down the street.
[00:04:15] In fact, where I teach is like a couple blocks away.
[00:04:17] So.
[00:04:18] Nice.
[00:04:19] Okay.
[00:04:19] But you're going to be the Austin guy that shows up on a scooter, right?
[00:04:21] Like a Lime scooter.
[00:04:22] Oh my God.
[00:04:23] Yes.
[00:04:23] I'm going to be the local guy that shows up late just so I can just be like,
[00:04:26] Oh, sorry.
[00:04:27] You know.
[00:04:28] Oh, right.
[00:04:28] This is happening.
[00:04:31] I'm going to be like the guy that shows up way early,
[00:04:33] puts his hand on the barbecue so no one steals it.
[00:04:35] Like I'm just going to be that guy there at the park.
[00:04:37] Like, ugh.
[00:04:37] Like I'm here.
[00:04:38] While it's on the grill, you're like, this is for dedication.
[00:04:42] I'm waiting.
[00:04:42] That free barbecue grill at the park.
[00:04:44] Oh yeah.
[00:04:44] But Mix-American, Primos is going to be a blast.
[00:04:47] Please join us if you can.
[00:04:48] Yeah.
[00:04:49] It's free.
[00:04:50] I know.
[00:04:51] It's going to be fun.
[00:04:53] It's going to be at Pan Am Park in Austin.
[00:04:55] It's fun for all.
[00:04:57] Family friendly ish.
[00:04:58] I'm debuting my first zine there.
[00:05:02] Is that potassium?
[00:05:03] It's potassium.
[00:05:04] It just arrived this week.
[00:05:06] Awesome.
[00:05:07] It's got little banana jokes and puns, full color.
[00:05:11] But y'all want to see.
[00:05:12] Oh, okay.
[00:05:12] So here's a taste.
[00:05:13] So here's potassium.
[00:05:15] So this is my, my zine potassium.
[00:05:17] It's got a bunch of banana puns and jokes, but, but here's the kicker.
[00:05:21] Once you're done reading it, you can unfold it.
[00:05:24] Wait for it.
[00:05:25] Wait for it.
[00:05:26] Wait for it.
[00:05:27] And it becomes a print of me in a banana costume, Mona Lisa style.
[00:05:32] So I'm just saying.
[00:05:34] I want it.
[00:05:35] I'm just saying.
[00:05:37] You are B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
[00:05:41] Thanks.
[00:05:42] I like to be appealing.
[00:05:45] Ah.
[00:05:48] You got it.
[00:05:50] Banana.
[00:05:50] Banana.
[00:05:51] You're bananas.
[00:05:52] You are bananas.
[00:05:53] But Max American.
[00:05:54] Let's talk about a little bit about Max American.
[00:05:56] Yeah.
[00:05:56] We have something planned for the show there.
[00:05:59] We're going to be hosting our, I don't know, our first, hopefully the first or more
[00:06:04] of many.
[00:06:05] Yeah.
[00:06:05] The first of one.
[00:06:06] The first of one.
[00:06:07] The first of one.
[00:06:08] If it goes well and they don't just crash and burn, but you know, hey, we know
[00:06:12] like.
[00:06:12] Hey, we don't know yet.
[00:06:13] Yeah, we do.
[00:06:15] We are, we're debuting our, our quiz show, our top quiz, Rimos.
[00:06:20] Pop quiz, Rimos.
[00:06:22] So it's pretty fun.
[00:06:22] It's going to be a Latine Jeopardy trivia type game.
[00:06:26] So it'll be a lot of fun.
[00:06:27] We're excited about that.
[00:06:29] I think there's chanclas involved somehow.
[00:06:32] I don't know.
[00:06:32] Don't hold me to it.
[00:06:33] But you know, we got to keep it brown.
[00:06:36] So chanclas.
[00:06:37] Yep.
[00:06:37] Yeah.
[00:06:37] Kevin's in this preview.
[00:06:39] Always ready.
[00:06:40] Always ready.
[00:06:41] If you fail the questions, you know what happens.
[00:06:46] Oh.
[00:06:46] I got chills.
[00:06:47] I know, right?
[00:06:48] Like anything, the 10 under like five foot four.
[00:06:50] I learned from my grandmother.
[00:06:51] You'd be a master of chanclada.
[00:06:54] Yeah.
[00:06:56] Seriously.
[00:06:57] But, my summer comes to be fun.
[00:06:58] You know, we're, we're also debuting that show, but you know, we won't talk about debuts.
[00:07:02] We'll talk about new things coming.
[00:07:05] Elia, can you share with us what is debuting, popping off, blowing up, exploding, getting excited for?
[00:07:13] Tell us about it.
[00:07:14] What's bananas?
[00:07:17] Besides potassium.
[00:07:18] With you.
[00:07:18] Listen, I'm kicking off my first Kickstarter.
[00:07:22] I'm so excited.
[00:07:24] My first ever Kickstarter.
[00:07:26] You just can't hide it.
[00:07:26] I can't.
[00:07:27] I really can't.
[00:07:28] I'm going to ink all over everybody.
[00:07:30] Whoa.
[00:07:31] Speaking of ink.
[00:07:33] No.
[00:07:33] If you did that, it would be a drawing disaster.
[00:07:36] Oh.
[00:07:38] Hmm.
[00:07:39] But, there you go.
[00:07:40] But it would be spicy.
[00:07:42] It would.
[00:07:42] It's always spicy.
[00:07:43] I always keep it spicy.
[00:07:44] It's well, spiced.
[00:07:45] Spiced, yeah.
[00:07:46] So you're starting, it's your first Kickstarter.
[00:07:48] Yeah.
[00:07:49] Tell the primos here, what is a Kickstarter?
[00:07:51] Yeah.
[00:07:51] Where do we find it?
[00:07:53] Of course, Kickstarter.
[00:07:54] But, what is it about?
[00:07:56] What are we investing in?
[00:07:57] Yeah.
[00:07:57] What are we going to get excited for?
[00:08:00] I got you.
[00:08:01] So, Kickstarter is a website that was made for just creators in general to share projects.
[00:08:08] I did that.
[00:08:09] A little indie site.
[00:08:10] Mm-hmm.
[00:08:11] Mm-hmm.
[00:08:12] Where creators can go and if they make something, they can make art, they can make merchandise,
[00:08:18] they can make food products, they can make books, they can make movies, literally anything,
[00:08:22] and promote it to the masses to help get it funded via the power of crowdfunding.
[00:08:30] I've supported many a comic book, including Kevin's, on the platform.
[00:08:35] It's a great place to discover independent artists, independent creators.
[00:08:40] If you're looking to find just some unique merch, I've pledged to so many enamel pin projects.
[00:08:47] It's just really cool.
[00:08:48] Yeah.
[00:08:49] It's just a really great platform to promote yourself as a creator and what you're making, and help people take you on that journey to make it come true, 100%.
[00:09:00] I can't tell you how many times I've backed projects, not even to get the rewards, just because I believe in the creators.
[00:09:06] Yeah.
[00:09:06] Because that's what it's about.
[00:09:07] It's about supporting creators.
[00:09:08] Speaking of it, what's your project?
[00:09:10] What's your project?
[00:09:12] So, the project, it's two different comic books.
[00:09:16] The first one I did during the pandemic, it's I Have an Inkling Volume 1, which I actually did do a run of that one.
[00:09:24] And then I made Volume 2.
[00:09:27] So, Volume 2, I tried to get off the ground, but it was just mid-pandemic.
[00:09:32] It wasn't the time.
[00:09:34] And I was like, you know what?
[00:09:35] I'll table it for now.
[00:09:36] Now, the thing about both of these comic books, both of these comic books feature 30 plus comics that I did as, you know, like Inktober happens during October for artists, which is a daily ink challenge where artists have a prompt and then they draw anything based off of it.
[00:09:53] So, I took that challenge or took one of the challenges that I found and instead of doing an art piece, I did a comic every day.
[00:10:00] I did a full inked comic, tried to come up with a joke for it based off the word and put it in a book.
[00:10:07] And the first one was really well received.
[00:10:10] So, like even after like the second one didn't come out when I wanted it to, I was like, you know what?
[00:10:14] I was going through it actually like six months ago and I was like, no, these are, I love these.
[00:10:19] I like, they're so, they're so fun.
[00:10:21] I had fun drawing them.
[00:10:22] I want to try to get it out there.
[00:10:24] So, volume two is officially debuting on this project.
[00:10:28] I haven't released it yet.
[00:10:29] This is what the cover will look like.
[00:10:31] Wow.
[00:10:32] Pretty.
[00:10:33] Wow.
[00:10:35] But yeah, it's going to have, actually, this one's going to have 32 because one of the comics I drew because I read the prompt wrong, but I included it in there anyway.
[00:10:43] It's, it's very, it's dumb.
[00:10:46] The correct prompt was underwater and what I drew was underwear.
[00:10:52] I mean, it happens, but the comic was still silly.
[00:10:57] So I kept it in there because it deserved a spot.
[00:11:00] So that, yeah.
[00:11:01] So volume two does have a bonus comic and that's the one that I want to hopefully get printed with volume one.
[00:11:06] You know, I have an inkling people are going to really enjoy this.
[00:11:10] I hope so.
[00:11:13] It's fun.
[00:11:14] I mean, I was, I would sit in on the, on your streams.
[00:11:17] I would watch the prompts and it's a fun, fun experience to be part of it and know that it's going to be, it's, it's fun as a supporter because you can see, you know, just the, the, the start and the end of it.
[00:11:31] And where we go with it as a, as a team here, as a community and Kickstarter, you have that ability to help fund the book and also get it to a lot more people.
[00:11:39] And we talked about this in the past, right?
[00:11:41] The more we support, the more we get ourselves out there, our stories out there.
[00:11:44] You know, the fact that your, your, your comics have always been a blast, you know, just because they're fun.
[00:11:50] They're not what you typically see and they're not all, you know, a lot of the time what sells is doom and gloom, right?
[00:11:56] A lot of the time it will be popular as the action and the heroes.
[00:11:59] There's a place for that.
[00:12:00] Don't get me wrong.
[00:12:01] Yeah.
[00:12:01] And I, but I don't know what I, what I hear about this underwear comic.
[00:12:04] I'm thinking there's going to be some action.
[00:12:06] I mean, I will say, I will say both of these comic books do have, I'm not, I'm not saying how to parent your kids, but I don't, I don't think, I don't think the young ones should look at it.
[00:12:19] It's called spice for a reason.
[00:12:21] Yeah.
[00:12:21] Yes.
[00:12:22] Yes.
[00:12:24] Spice inklings.
[00:12:26] Spice inklings.
[00:12:27] Spice inklings.
[00:12:28] Spice inklings.
[00:12:29] Spice inklings.
[00:12:30] Is that your followers?
[00:12:31] You call them spice inklings?
[00:12:32] Oh, you should.
[00:12:32] I call my community little conchas actually, because my little logo is a concha and we're the concha club.
[00:12:40] Well, are we conchas?
[00:12:44] Do what?
[00:12:45] Are we conchas?
[00:12:46] Yeah.
[00:12:47] All right.
[00:12:48] Heck yeah.
[00:12:49] I'll take it.
[00:12:50] My best conchas.
[00:12:51] Yeah.
[00:12:52] You know, my wife told me that when someone's a concha, that means that they're just like laid out lazy and don't do anything.
[00:12:58] I mean, yeah, that's me.
[00:12:59] Yeah.
[00:13:00] That's me when I'm not on here.
[00:13:02] I'm just like.
[00:13:04] All right.
[00:13:06] But where can people search for it?
[00:13:08] Just go to Kickstarter and type in.
[00:13:10] I have an inkling and that will be fine.
[00:13:13] Yep.
[00:13:13] And it should.
[00:13:14] It should pop right up.
[00:13:15] It's not published as of this moment right now, but it will be published starting November 1st.
[00:13:20] Yeah.
[00:13:20] November 1st.
[00:13:21] Yeah.
[00:13:21] So, Primo, look forward to it.
[00:13:23] Go on there right now.
[00:13:24] You can pre-save it.
[00:13:25] It'll let you know when it launches.
[00:13:27] Yes.
[00:13:27] Of course, follow at Spice Administrations.
[00:13:29] We'll be, you know, sharing.
[00:13:31] We'll be posting on ours as well.
[00:13:33] And my Primo's podcast.
[00:13:34] I'm sure Kevin will too.
[00:13:35] If he'll allow it, you know, you know.
[00:13:37] Well, I mean, there's only so much room outside of me.
[00:13:40] I know.
[00:13:41] I don't want to take up too much of your time.
[00:13:43] I mean, you take up so much of the screen, you know, too.
[00:13:45] Yeah.
[00:13:46] All right.
[00:13:46] So, I just tried it out.
[00:13:47] It works with both I have an inkling and by typing in Elia Maria.
[00:13:51] Yay!
[00:13:52] How fun.
[00:13:54] I'm excited because I really want this out there.
[00:13:56] I want people to read it.
[00:13:57] Yes.
[00:13:58] Yes.
[00:13:58] All right.
[00:13:59] Pick a number between 1 and 31.
[00:14:02] 1.
[00:14:03] 1.
[00:14:04] 22.
[00:14:05] 1 and 22.
[00:14:07] Okay.
[00:14:07] Let me get those.
[00:14:10] 24.
[00:14:13] And 22.
[00:14:15] All right.
[00:14:15] Number one is Wish.
[00:14:18] So, here's the Wish comic.
[00:14:22] I wish for...
[00:14:23] No.
[00:14:24] Don't say it out loud or it won't come true.
[00:14:27] Hmm.
[00:14:28] Then how will you know what I want you to do for me?
[00:14:32] Wait, wait, wait, wait.
[00:14:33] Let's do over.
[00:14:35] Freddy, read the princess.
[00:14:37] Oh, we're going to act it out.
[00:14:37] Yeah, act it out.
[00:14:38] Oh, we're acting it out?
[00:14:39] Yes.
[00:14:42] I wish for...
[00:14:44] No, don't say it out loud or it won't come true.
[00:14:49] Then how will you know what I want you to do for me?
[00:14:54] Yeah.
[00:14:56] So that one's Wish and then number 22 is Relentless.
[00:15:02] There we go.
[00:15:03] This one, let's see.
[00:15:04] Yeah, we do have two parts on this one.
[00:15:06] All right.
[00:15:07] I'll be the guy on the phone.
[00:15:09] Kevin, you be the guy.
[00:15:10] On the phone.
[00:15:12] On the phone.
[00:15:13] On the phone.
[00:15:15] Hello?
[00:15:16] Hello, we've been trying to reach you concerning your car's extended warranty.
[00:15:20] Oh, I hate this Relentless spam calls.
[00:15:25] Shut up!
[00:15:26] Stop calling me!
[00:15:28] Oh, hi, Mom.
[00:15:31] There you go.
[00:15:32] It happens, man.
[00:15:32] Yeah, so that's just a taste of the silly things I'd come up with on, with these prompts
[00:15:37] on the spot.
[00:15:39] It's fun.
[00:15:40] I like those.
[00:15:41] Yeah.
[00:15:41] It's kind of like a bite-sized little, you know what would be cool in the future?
[00:15:45] Maybe a stretch goal or another Kickstarter.
[00:15:48] Cool.
[00:15:49] Like a calendar a day of each one of them.
[00:15:52] Oh, my gosh.
[00:15:54] That would be cool.
[00:15:56] That would be kind of cool to read one a day and kind of have it.
[00:15:58] The 365 comic challenge.
[00:16:00] Okay.
[00:16:01] Done.
[00:16:02] Every day of the week.
[00:16:03] Every day.
[00:16:04] Now combine that with a 24-hour comic challenge and then really get it done.
[00:16:08] Hey, that's how Princess Ataco was born.
[00:16:12] Sorry, tell us about Princess Ataco.
[00:16:14] So, Princess Ataco has officially gotten a publisher.
[00:16:19] Hey, congratulations!
[00:16:21] All right.
[00:16:21] Yeah, I'm good.
[00:16:21] Honestly, I love that.
[00:16:22] I love it, I love it, I love it.
[00:16:23] I'm so excited!
[00:16:25] Yeah, so...
[00:16:26] What can you tell us about Princess Ataco?
[00:16:28] Like, what is it for those that don't know?
[00:16:30] It's a magical girl, very camp, Latina manga, essentially, is what I'm pitching it as.
[00:16:40] But it follows Princess Ataco, who oversees the town of Al Pastor.
[00:16:45] I love it already.
[00:16:46] And her biggest goal is just to make sure everything is going well, her people are happy.
[00:16:51] She's very much doesn't want conflict and wants to protect everyone around her.
[00:16:58] Yeah.
[00:16:58] I love magical girls, especially that ataco meet.
[00:17:02] Me too.
[00:17:02] Yeah, listen.
[00:17:02] It's a good cause.
[00:17:04] When you said Latina manga, the first thing I thought was, but is the main character's name Latina?
[00:17:09] Oh, Latina manga.
[00:17:11] So funny.
[00:17:12] Have you heard about that?
[00:17:12] Yeah.
[00:17:12] Oh no, what?
[00:17:14] So there is a manga about a...
[00:17:17] I think it's like, So I Fell in Love with Latina or something like that.
[00:17:20] It's written in Japan.
[00:17:21] Oh my God.
[00:17:22] And the creator wanted to know, like, what's a good name for a Latina?
[00:17:26] So he asked an AI program, what should I name a Latina?
[00:17:29] And the number one hit came back as Latina.
[00:17:32] So he named his character Latina.
[00:17:34] And it's like...
[00:17:35] Honestly, Slay.
[00:17:37] No, I do.
[00:17:37] Yeah.
[00:17:38] I remember that now.
[00:17:41] Yeah.
[00:17:42] No, but funny enough.
[00:17:43] So, Princesa Toco doesn't have a name outside of that.
[00:17:47] I just named her that.
[00:17:48] That's the only name she's referred to in the whole book.
[00:17:50] And yeah, I realized that as I was like typesetting.
[00:17:53] I'm like, I did not name her.
[00:17:55] So should she be well received and the publisher wants to continue her story?
[00:18:01] Yeah.
[00:18:02] I might add that in the lore.
[00:18:04] Hey.
[00:18:05] It could be a secret thing.
[00:18:06] Like something that just pops up in the lore eventually.
[00:18:08] Like down like...
[00:18:09] Yeah.
[00:18:09] Yeah.
[00:18:09] When you do your like compendium when it's like 52 issues down the line and eventually
[00:18:14] we get a name.
[00:18:14] Yeah.
[00:18:14] You know?
[00:18:15] Like that.
[00:18:15] Yeah.
[00:18:15] I like that.
[00:18:16] Yeah.
[00:18:18] I want to give some bad news.
[00:18:19] I looked up the full name of that novel, the manga I just talked about.
[00:18:22] Uh oh.
[00:18:23] What's it called?
[00:18:23] The dark brown Latina girl is aiming for my body.
[00:18:28] I feel that.
[00:18:29] Yeah.
[00:18:29] I mean...
[00:18:30] I felt that.
[00:18:31] Yeah.
[00:18:32] Relatable.
[00:18:37] All right.
[00:18:38] Cut.
[00:18:39] It's not approved.
[00:18:40] It is what it is.
[00:18:42] It is what it is.
[00:18:43] I remember that there was a, there was a trend where a manga and anime had these obscure,
[00:18:48] weird titles that made no sense.
[00:18:51] Yeah.
[00:18:51] It's like that one time I got reincarnated as a slime.
[00:18:55] Yeah.
[00:18:55] The popular one.
[00:18:56] Then there's one like...
[00:18:57] For a while.
[00:18:57] Yeah.
[00:18:58] I was reborn as a spider, so what?
[00:19:00] That's a great one by the way.
[00:19:02] Mm-hmm.
[00:19:02] And then there was one that was like, what if you ended up, what if you were raised in
[00:19:05] the last town, in the last dungeon, in the end of the world?
[00:19:08] That was the title of one.
[00:19:10] Like...
[00:19:10] I would never remember these names.
[00:19:13] Yeah.
[00:19:13] It'd be so hard to remember.
[00:19:14] Like, oh my God.
[00:19:16] But I love them.
[00:19:16] They make me laugh every time, but I'm like, I would never remember that.
[00:19:19] If like, if like at the, like someone's asking me, what's your favorite anime series?
[00:19:22] I'd be like...
[00:19:24] Slime.
[00:19:25] I had a friend trying to convince me that, oh no, it's a translation error.
[00:19:28] It's actually supposed to be a very normal name.
[00:19:30] But then no, more and more of them are coming out even longer and longer.
[00:19:33] Like they're trying to out-
[00:19:33] I'm like, no, no, no.
[00:19:34] And I was like, no, this is a thing.
[00:19:36] Yeah.
[00:19:36] Like it started out as kind of like...
[00:19:38] And then it became on purpose.
[00:19:40] Yeah.
[00:19:41] I'm only gonna make sense when they translate them over.
[00:19:43] It's gonna leave them in the native tongue.
[00:19:45] Cause you're like, it's not gonna work the same way.
[00:19:46] Yeah.
[00:19:47] But like, I don't know.
[00:19:48] I get, I like those obscure ones.
[00:19:50] My friends make fun of me cause I watch the most...
[00:19:54] I have to look for it.
[00:19:55] But I, I was obsessed with an anime about people that memorize poems.
[00:20:03] And they would go to, to competitions where they would basically be given stanzas and whatever piece was missing, they had to fill it in.
[00:20:12] And that was the competition and that was the anime.
[00:20:15] And my friends were like, how is that an anime?
[00:20:17] And I was like, they make anime about everything.
[00:20:18] They make anime about ping pong and you know.
[00:20:22] So why, why can't you do this about poetry reading?
[00:20:25] Yeah.
[00:20:25] He's like...
[00:20:25] I saw that anime about ping pong the other day and I was like, damn, that really is good.
[00:20:29] Like it's, it's different.
[00:20:30] So good.
[00:20:30] You know.
[00:20:31] So good.
[00:20:32] It's intense.
[00:20:33] It makes you like, whoa, I don't want to play ping pong.
[00:20:36] I think I'll be killed.
[00:20:37] Like it's, it's with it.
[00:20:38] Damn.
[00:20:39] It's harsh lines, you know, like hard pencil, hard like lines.
[00:20:42] It's, it's, it's, it's scribbly, but also real at the same time.
[00:20:46] It's, it's intense.
[00:20:47] Interesting.
[00:20:48] When you watch it, like, whoa.
[00:20:49] Yeah.
[00:20:49] And then there's a, the battle royale, like a blue block, which is like battle royale,
[00:20:53] the film.
[00:20:54] Remember kids coddles to explode.
[00:20:56] Uh, when they're, did you know this film, Elia?
[00:20:57] No, but I know my students.
[00:21:00] So.
[00:21:02] There was a novel called, there's a novel, there's a novel called battle royale,
[00:21:05] which.
[00:21:06] Yeah.
[00:21:06] I've heard of that.
[00:21:06] It's over here or over here somewhere.
[00:21:10] I don't know where it is.
[00:21:11] Point is, it's novel battle royale.
[00:21:13] And it's pretty much.
[00:21:14] Uh, the basis for a lot of these battle royale video games.
[00:21:16] And they take the thing is that in Japan, they pick one junior high classroom.
[00:21:20] Like that class for that year, put them on an island and they have to kill each other.
[00:21:24] The last one standing survives.
[00:21:26] Uh, and if no one refuses to, um, to kill themselves, not only do they shorten the range,
[00:21:33] they would have these collars that have explosives on them.
[00:21:36] And so if no one dies under a certain amount of time, they start randomly blowing.
[00:21:40] They will blow up everybody.
[00:21:42] And so they have to basically, someone has to die at certain intervals.
[00:21:45] So that the rest of the group can survive.
[00:21:48] Oh my God.
[00:21:49] Yeah.
[00:21:49] It's called battle royale.
[00:21:50] It's insane book and the movie as well.
[00:21:54] Uh, it's out there.
[00:21:55] It's live action, by the way.
[00:21:56] Isn't that like a fallout vault that was under the same premise?
[00:21:59] Right.
[00:21:59] It's kind of like that.
[00:22:01] And I, a lot of things ripped off that premise.
[00:22:04] And one of the things that annoyed me the most is there was a Marvel comic that ripped off that premise called Avengers Arena.
[00:22:10] And the whole point of it was that they took all these like teenage superheroes and put them on an island where they had to kill each other or else they would, you know.
[00:22:16] It was so, so bad.
[00:22:20] They killed off great characters.
[00:22:21] They had them out of character just so they could die.
[00:22:24] It was just, it was frustratingly bad.
[00:22:29] But, and yet it had a spinoff.
[00:22:31] So.
[00:22:32] The film, if you ever want to go watch, which I highly recommend, it's, it's very well done.
[00:22:37] It's so funny because it's randomized.
[00:22:39] They give you backpacks of supplies.
[00:22:41] You gotta survive.
[00:22:42] Right.
[00:22:42] And the main characters we follow, what he got.
[00:22:45] One guy got like, one guy got a samurai sword.
[00:22:48] One guy got like fishing gear to survive.
[00:22:51] One girl got a scythe.
[00:22:53] This guy got a pot lid.
[00:22:55] That was his item to survive to start with was a pot lid.
[00:22:58] That was amazing.
[00:22:59] And he had to survive to get there and bargain with people.
[00:23:02] And they're like, what can you do with the pot lid?
[00:23:04] You know, it became a whole thing.
[00:23:05] It's pretty well written.
[00:23:06] It's fun.
[00:23:07] But yeah, battle royale.
[00:23:09] Then I saw an anime where it's a, a soccer version of that.
[00:23:14] So.
[00:23:14] Of course.
[00:23:15] Follow me here.
[00:23:16] Same thing.
[00:23:16] No, I'm here.
[00:23:17] I'm on board.
[00:23:18] Literally.
[00:23:18] Like it's like Japan says that they have the weakest soccer players in the world compared
[00:23:22] to the other countries.
[00:23:23] And so in order to make sure that their soccer team for the world cup is the best of the
[00:23:29] best, they have to thin out the herd of the quote unquote young players coming up.
[00:23:34] And the way to make sure that they're the best goalie, the best striker, they have to survive
[00:23:39] different challenges and they end up being cut and not killed.
[00:23:44] The rival of the fittest.
[00:23:46] But they basically get forbidden.
[00:23:47] Like they're basically blacklisted from playing professional soccer ever again in the country.
[00:23:51] So it's a version of that, but it involves.
[00:23:54] Holy cow.
[00:23:54] It's really cool.
[00:23:55] It's called blue block.
[00:23:56] Blue block.
[00:23:57] Oh, I've heard that name thrown around.
[00:23:59] Yeah.
[00:23:59] Yeah.
[00:24:00] Okay.
[00:24:01] It's wonkiness.
[00:24:01] It's craziness.
[00:24:02] But Kevin, so talking about things that are coming up, we talked about Kickstarter here
[00:24:09] coming up as well.
[00:24:10] I know you just finished up your Kickstarter, but we also got a little announced, not little,
[00:24:13] but an announcement of a little guy that looks so big.
[00:24:17] A little guy.
[00:24:18] I have mentioned this a couple of times on my Primo's podcast, available at podcast sites
[00:24:24] everywhere.
[00:24:26] But yeah, a few, a while back I was hired to write a book that is a middle reader book,
[00:24:32] which means it's a novel, but aimed at like say middle school and high school readers.
[00:24:38] And it is, the main characters are all real people.
[00:24:41] They're real luchadors that work for their, they have contracts with mass Republic, which
[00:24:46] the ones who hired me.
[00:24:48] But I'm writing about these luchadors as well, preteens and teens and having them fight monsters
[00:24:56] in Mexico, because why not?
[00:24:57] That's awesome.
[00:24:59] Yeah.
[00:24:59] I had actually had a lot of fun with this book.
[00:25:01] A lot of twists and turns.
[00:25:02] I have a, you know, it's funny.
[00:25:05] I have a, a curandera in there who's like a very key character.
[00:25:08] And it occurs to me after the fact that she's very much Agatha.
[00:25:11] You know?
[00:25:12] Nice.
[00:25:13] Yeah.
[00:25:14] But yeah, it's, it's, it's just a lot of twists and turns.
[00:25:17] Get them to, to, my goal was to have like mythological creatures that are pre-Columbian
[00:25:21] especially.
[00:25:22] So you're never going to see a Chupacabra in here, which by the way is Puerto Rican.
[00:25:27] You know?
[00:25:27] So that's the idea.
[00:25:30] I want to get stuff where it's like really interesting creatures and having some fun with
[00:25:34] that and having the kids.
[00:25:35] It's by lingual, right?
[00:25:36] I saw that.
[00:25:37] That's pretty cool.
[00:25:37] Yeah.
[00:25:37] It's going to be, the whole plan is, is that like, I think the way it was explained to
[00:25:41] me originally was that every other page is going to be English, Spanish.
[00:25:43] So you could decide, you know, read it the other way.
[00:25:45] I'm not really sure how it's going to be printed by lingual, but I know it is going
[00:25:47] to be both languages are also going to be pictures.
[00:25:49] I think it's about like one picture per chapter, kind of like the original Harry Potter was
[00:25:52] where it had like a picture per chapter.
[00:25:54] Yeah.
[00:25:55] Yeah.
[00:25:56] That's cool, man.
[00:25:57] So what is the expected release of this?
[00:25:59] Is there, is that out yet or is that?
[00:26:01] So the plan right now is March of 2025.
[00:26:05] So just in time for when South by Southwest hits, I guess.
[00:26:08] But so spring, it should come out by spring.
[00:26:10] Yay.
[00:26:12] Super excited.
[00:26:13] Everybody's creating cool things.
[00:26:14] You know, I feel like.
[00:26:15] I know.
[00:26:17] Well, Primos, we're not left out today.
[00:26:19] That cool guy at Freddy is right though.
[00:26:21] Cool people are making cool things.
[00:26:23] And we have an exclusive given to us by Gonzalo Alvarez and his team, the team behind Nawali,
[00:26:30] the card game.
[00:26:32] Studio Tequanis has released a new trailer, which we got our hands on.
[00:26:36] Shout out to Gonzalo and his team, of course.
[00:26:38] So here's the world premiere of the second edition trailer for Nawali, the Aztec card game.
[00:26:45] This game will be live and you'll be able to play and get your hands on it at Mix America on 2024.
[00:26:51] This weekend, November 2nd in Austin, Texas.
[00:26:53] Let's go support Primos.
[00:26:55] We'll see you there.
[00:26:56] Let's play some games.
[00:26:57] Get your hands on Nawali.
[00:26:58] Check out Nawali.com.
[00:27:01] We can't talk about it yet.
[00:28:02] I know, I know.
[00:28:03] I was going to say, there's like, there's things that are simmering beneath the surface.
[00:28:08] There's simmering.
[00:28:09] But I'm supposed to be able to...
[00:28:11] Freddieing.
[00:28:13] Freddieing.
[00:28:14] Freddieing.
[00:28:15] Simmering?
[00:28:16] Freddieing.
[00:28:16] Freddieing.
[00:28:17] Freddieing.
[00:28:18] Freddieing.
[00:28:18] Do we make that thing?
[00:28:19] It is now.
[00:28:20] It is now.
[00:28:21] It is now.
[00:28:22] We're all a little Freddieing inside.
[00:28:24] Yeah.
[00:28:24] Are you even like doing something if you're not Freddieing?
[00:28:28] Mm-hmm.
[00:28:28] Well, there used to be a song.
[00:28:31] There used to be a song called The Freddie.
[00:28:33] Do the Freddie.
[00:28:35] It's something like that.
[00:28:36] Like, do the Freddie.
[00:28:37] Like, this is weird.
[00:28:38] Like, they were trying to do the twist.
[00:28:41] But it was like, yeah.
[00:28:41] It's like up and down.
[00:28:42] Yeah.
[00:28:43] It's up and down.
[00:28:44] It's called Do the Freddie.
[00:28:45] I remember that.
[00:28:47] But it's interesting.
[00:28:49] But, yeah.
[00:28:49] The Freddie.
[00:28:50] That was the thing.
[00:28:51] I had a teacher tell me that.
[00:28:52] Ms. Breeland from seventh grade in South Central LA at Bret Hart Elementary School.
[00:28:58] Not Bret the Hitman Hart.
[00:28:59] I wanted it to be Bret the Hitman Hart Junior High School.
[00:29:02] But no.
[00:29:03] It was Bret Hart.
[00:29:04] You know, I learned eventually from that was.
[00:29:07] But, yeah.
[00:29:08] I learned about that.
[00:29:09] And that was that whole, you know.
[00:29:10] Because my name, I used to not be a fan of my name.
[00:29:13] I don't know about you guys.
[00:29:14] Like, Freddie.
[00:29:14] I'm still not a fan of my name.
[00:29:16] I went through a really bad hate my name phase.
[00:29:19] Yeah.
[00:29:19] I did.
[00:29:20] I did.
[00:29:20] And everybody was Freddie Krueger or like, whatever.
[00:29:23] I was a kid.
[00:29:24] At least they could say your name.
[00:29:26] What was the pronunciation you got?
[00:29:30] I grew up in a really gentrified area, number one.
[00:29:33] So, Elia.
[00:29:34] It was automatically the long E.
[00:29:36] Elia.
[00:29:37] Elia.
[00:29:39] Elia.
[00:29:39] I like that one.
[00:29:40] I hate it.
[00:29:42] I had the opposite.
[00:29:44] Because I grew up in a more Spanish area.
[00:29:46] So, it was Kibbe.
[00:29:47] Kibbe.
[00:29:48] Kibbe.
[00:29:48] Which I don't mind so much.
[00:29:50] Kibbe.
[00:29:50] I wish I had a name that translated properly.
[00:29:52] So, I could, you know, pick one.
[00:29:54] Yeah.
[00:29:55] Well, isn't there supposed to be like a Spanish version of your name?
[00:29:58] I looked up the other day, like Kevin and other languages.
[00:30:01] And like, nine out of ten of them was just spelled Kevin.
[00:30:05] Kevin.
[00:30:06] Just like, you're not even trying.
[00:30:07] This has an accent mark.
[00:30:08] Kevin.
[00:30:08] No, not even.
[00:30:09] Not even an accent mark.
[00:30:10] Not even an accent mark.
[00:30:11] I didn't get that.
[00:30:12] It's just Kevin.
[00:30:12] Oh, that's just Kevin.
[00:30:14] Yeah.
[00:30:14] In Japanese, it's like, oh, just Kevin.
[00:30:17] I Googled.
[00:30:17] Did I ever tell you guys that I came up, what'd you find?
[00:30:20] What'd you find?
[00:30:20] I Googled.
[00:30:21] It said, you know, how to translate Kevin into Spanish.
[00:30:25] And it says, K-E hyphen V-E-E-N.
[00:30:29] Kevin.
[00:30:31] So, I actually prefer this.
[00:30:33] So, I came up with my own translation for how Kevin should be in Spanish.
[00:30:36] Okay.
[00:30:36] And it's K-E-V-O-N.
[00:30:39] So, how would you pronounce that in Spanish?
[00:30:41] Exactly.
[00:30:42] And if somebody likes me, they might put Ito at the end.
[00:30:45] So, it'd be K-E-V-O-N.
[00:30:46] Que bonito.
[00:30:47] Que bonito.
[00:30:48] And since Kevin already means handsome, you know what?
[00:30:50] That works.
[00:30:51] Yo.
[00:30:52] Wow.
[00:30:53] You know what?
[00:30:54] Work.
[00:30:54] Work.
[00:30:54] You know what?
[00:30:55] I can make my name mean anything, but apparently it means like frog or something.
[00:30:59] I don't know.
[00:31:00] Like...
[00:31:00] A wedding.
[00:31:02] Have you ever looked into it?
[00:31:03] Like, what your name means?
[00:31:04] No, we talked about this in the day where Freddy is spelled uniquely for you.
[00:31:08] So, for you, it means Primo Freddy.
[00:31:11] It does.
[00:31:12] It does.
[00:31:12] It's not spelled...
[00:31:12] Nobody else spells their name like I do.
[00:31:14] No one else does.
[00:31:15] Yeah.
[00:31:16] That's true.
[00:31:16] That's true.
[00:31:17] That's true.
[00:31:18] No double D's.
[00:31:19] No D...
[00:31:20] Was it D-D-I-E?
[00:31:22] No D-D-Y.
[00:31:24] If you really want double D's, there is a surgery for that.
[00:31:27] No, I don't want that.
[00:31:29] You'll get back pain.
[00:31:29] I'm packing, man.
[00:31:29] My back already hurts when I'm packing, so...
[00:31:32] I'm just saying.
[00:31:32] I don't need anything else.
[00:31:33] I don't need it.
[00:31:34] Yeah.
[00:31:34] Trust me.
[00:31:35] My testimony, don't do it.
[00:31:37] Back pain.
[00:31:38] Fair.
[00:31:38] I do not speak from experience.
[00:31:40] I understand.
[00:31:40] I'm packing here.
[00:31:42] No guys, you know, we're here, of course, we're recording this and we're talking about
[00:31:48] new things and I want to just go back a little bit.
[00:31:50] We're getting close to the end of the year for us.
[00:31:52] You know, we closed our season out in about a month, you know, so we're getting close
[00:31:55] to it.
[00:31:56] Yeah.
[00:31:56] And I've had a blast.
[00:31:57] I really have enjoyed just kind of this new format that we've been working with and
[00:32:02] I've been getting a lot of good responses from people.
[00:32:05] People have been commenting, you know.
[00:32:06] I saw Kevin responded to a couple comments on our Spotify, which I was kind of funny.
[00:32:10] Wait, we can comment on Spotify?
[00:32:12] I literally did not know there were comments on Spotify.
[00:32:14] I didn't remember.
[00:32:15] Sure.
[00:32:16] And when I saw it, I was like, Oh, I'm responding to this.
[00:32:18] Cause I didn't know.
[00:32:18] I didn't know there was, I had no idea there were comments on Spotify.
[00:32:21] Yeah.
[00:32:21] There's a whole like, like you can have a whole conversation, a whole like chat on
[00:32:26] episodes and then just comment on the episode.
[00:32:28] Oh, I'm going to explore now.
[00:32:29] Oh my God.
[00:32:30] That's fine.
[00:32:31] I didn't know that.
[00:32:32] I seriously, it was a surprise to me too.
[00:32:34] I was like, there's comments on here?
[00:32:36] Like what the heck?
[00:32:36] And I have Spotify premium.
[00:32:37] How have I not taken advantage of this?
[00:32:39] I do too.
[00:32:40] I had no idea.
[00:32:41] Oh my God.
[00:32:42] Yeah.
[00:32:42] There's comments on there, but we had a couple here and there.
[00:32:44] Yeah.
[00:32:44] There's polls.
[00:32:45] There's comments.
[00:32:46] And then I think someone recently said like, here we go again, five minutes into the episode
[00:32:51] and Kevin Garcia is flying off the handle.
[00:32:53] He's out of pocket or something like that.
[00:32:55] And then you know what?
[00:32:56] I wonder if I know who that was.
[00:32:58] Right.
[00:32:59] Oh man.
[00:33:00] Where?
[00:33:00] That's our, I'm trying to, where are the comments?
[00:33:04] So you just click the episode and it says comments and you can actually make a comment.
[00:33:08] And sometimes there's already comments there because.
[00:33:10] Oh, there's people.
[00:33:12] That's what?
[00:33:14] That's crazy.
[00:33:14] Yeah.
[00:33:14] We can comment and be most free to comment.
[00:33:16] Let us know what you think.
[00:33:17] Do it.
[00:33:17] Yeah.
[00:33:18] I'll get in there.
[00:33:19] Let us know.
[00:33:20] Let us inter, inter, inter, interact.
[00:33:22] Let us talk.
[00:33:23] Yeah.
[00:33:24] You can unleash our inner demons.
[00:33:27] Yes.
[00:33:27] You know what?
[00:33:28] It is that time of year, right?
[00:33:29] The spookiness.
[00:33:31] Mm-hmm.
[00:33:31] You know, I think that I'm going to share a story here.
[00:33:36] And it's, it's a fun little story.
[00:33:38] Yeah.
[00:33:40] Because I remember, well, do you guys remember, and please take your time and think about
[00:33:44] it.
[00:33:44] Do you guys remember the last time you actually went trick or treating?
[00:33:48] I have a funny, a good story about that.
[00:33:52] So, interestingly enough, I didn't really go trick or treating like much.
[00:33:56] I mean, I was a diabetic kid.
[00:33:57] So, getting a lot of candy.
[00:33:59] Well, no, I don't hate it.
[00:34:00] I would rather give out the candy.
[00:34:02] I was very much like, I'd rather hand it out.
[00:34:04] That's what I do too, mostly.
[00:34:04] I love Halloween.
[00:34:05] But I just, collecting candy, like I was like, whatever.
[00:34:08] I can't eat it anyway.
[00:34:09] What's the point?
[00:34:09] I'd rather just hand it out.
[00:34:11] So, that was my, my fun with Halloween.
[00:34:13] I do remember doing it as a teenager.
[00:34:14] I think, and I think that was the last time.
[00:34:18] But just because we were going around the rich neighborhood.
[00:34:21] I used to every year go out and volunteer at like give what candy giveaways for kids
[00:34:27] and stuff like that.
[00:34:27] I love doing that.
[00:34:28] I've weirdly haven't done that since moving to Austin.
[00:34:32] Interesting.
[00:34:33] But I don't think Austin's lit with that.
[00:34:35] No, I know it should.
[00:34:35] I need to find a place to volunteer.
[00:34:37] Yeah.
[00:34:37] Buddy, tell us about the last time you, yeah, do it, do it, do it.
[00:34:40] Oh man.
[00:34:41] It involved the police.
[00:34:42] It involved.
[00:34:43] Of course, of course, of course.
[00:34:45] Of course.
[00:34:45] You know, cause you know, that's what I do.
[00:34:47] All right, man.
[00:34:48] So I am like 15, 16 years old, which is crazy.
[00:34:51] Cause my kid just turned 15 and I look at them and I go, how the hell was I doing
[00:34:54] stuff like that?
[00:34:55] 15, 16 years old.
[00:34:56] So.
[00:34:57] Is this the same timeline as the Les Mis story?
[00:35:01] Like, is this around the same?
[00:35:02] I mean, yeah.
[00:35:03] I mean, yeah.
[00:35:04] No, a little before.
[00:35:05] This era.
[00:35:05] It's the same era.
[00:35:07] Okay.
[00:35:07] Um, I was a little more advanced in, uh, my troublemaking up by the time the Les Mis
[00:35:14] thing happened.
[00:35:14] Gotcha.
[00:35:15] Um, but so move forward, uh, hang out with a group of kids in the area.
[00:35:20] We think we're badasses and, uh, we're taxed, right?
[00:35:23] Like, oh yeah, I'm a tagger.
[00:35:24] I'm a tagger.
[00:35:25] Um, and so we got it.
[00:35:30] Well, the uninitiated, uh, I used to spray paint on walls.
[00:35:35] I used to think that I was cool and like draw, like try to draw pieces and graffiti art.
[00:35:39] And, uh, if you were a shitty artist and you can just scribble a name and that was
[00:35:44] enough.
[00:35:44] Right.
[00:35:45] Uh, so I was like 14, 15, 15, I was 15, I was older.
[00:35:49] And so for my friends got together and said, Hey, let's go trick or treating.
[00:35:52] It'll be fun.
[00:35:53] While we're trick or treating, we can bomb.
[00:35:55] Like we can take advantage of you incognito and start, you know, spray painting things
[00:36:00] and just tagging and graffiti.
[00:36:02] Cool.
[00:36:02] Let's do it.
[00:36:03] You know, let's make it happen.
[00:36:04] So we ended up going, we're trick or treating, right?
[00:36:07] We're wearing, I think I was, my costume was like, so this is how funny it was.
[00:36:12] I don't know about you guys.
[00:36:13] My costume was like, I love, okay.
[00:36:17] I'm putting my, the backstory of the backstory.
[00:36:20] The backstory of the backstory.
[00:36:21] So during that time, it was more so that I was, they used to call me a transformer in
[00:36:26] a way because I was always switching like, um, scenes, you know, it was like, you were
[00:36:30] punk, you were, you were a great dancer, you were this, you were that.
[00:36:35] And so in this scenario, I was like transitioning into from like, tagger hood kid to like, I
[00:36:40] was into the rockabilly and like the greaser style.
[00:36:43] I had hair, I had hair at them.
[00:36:46] Um, and I hung out with these kids and they were, you know, we're just a rag tag team.
[00:36:49] So I was walking around and we'll go, who are you supposed to be?
[00:36:51] I'll be like, oh, it's Sal Mineo.
[00:36:53] Right.
[00:36:53] And they're like, who's that?
[00:36:54] And they're like, oh, that's explain who Sal Mineo was from Rebel Without A Cause.
[00:36:58] And they're like, oh, okay, cool.
[00:36:59] Are you like James Dean?
[00:37:00] I go, no, that's the joke, you know, but no one would get it.
[00:37:03] Cause no one in my neighborhood cared.
[00:37:05] So I was walking around that way.
[00:37:06] My friend was like a ghost.
[00:37:07] He put his face like paint and stuff.
[00:37:09] One guy had like a sheet over his head.
[00:37:10] It was just basic stuff, but it was just to hide, hide the cans and everything.
[00:37:13] Cause we were literally going to go do this.
[00:37:16] Anyways, we go, we get candy.
[00:37:17] Some people don't give us candy, whatever.
[00:37:19] We ended up popping a gate, this skate, like this big fence.
[00:37:22] And then we start spray painting.
[00:37:25] I don't know if you know this, but when you use very big copious amounts of spray paint,
[00:37:29] it tends to like waft into the sky.
[00:37:32] Yeah.
[00:37:33] And not only that, it's the smell is intense and everywhere.
[00:37:36] It's not just like a one little spray.
[00:37:38] It tends to just go everywhere.
[00:37:41] Right?
[00:37:41] So while we're going at it, we're just, just so doing our thing.
[00:37:46] It's like an alley.
[00:37:47] And so we see the lights come on and it's police car.
[00:37:50] They hit the lights.
[00:37:52] And so we go and everybody runs, but I don't run the fastest.
[00:37:58] I get like, I'm the slowest one behind.
[00:38:00] And so everybody starts throwing their cans over the fences, you know, because if they
[00:38:04] don't catch you with cans, they didn't do anything.
[00:38:07] You didn't have evidence.
[00:38:08] So I'm running, but I'm still holding onto the bag of candy for some reason.
[00:38:13] Like I won't let go of it.
[00:38:14] And I'm running, running, running, running, running.
[00:38:16] And I get stopped.
[00:38:16] The guys grab me and my friends take off.
[00:38:18] They disappear.
[00:38:18] Right?
[00:38:19] Of course.
[00:38:19] So I'm there stuck.
[00:38:20] The police tell me, oh, you're tagging.
[00:38:22] I'm not tagging.
[00:38:23] I'm not doing anything.
[00:38:24] I'm not doing anything at all.
[00:38:25] And they open my bag and inside the bag are spray cans lids, not the spray cans, but
[00:38:31] the lids for the spray cans.
[00:38:33] And so those spray can lids are what got me picked up.
[00:38:38] Take into not thankfully take me to my mom and my mom was like getting ready for work
[00:38:42] because it was late at night.
[00:38:43] Oh, no, what are you doing?
[00:38:45] I said I had to go into the house because they couldn't go into the house because it
[00:38:49] was kind of late.
[00:38:50] I had to go in myself and I had to go in there and talk to my mom's door.
[00:38:53] She was like, what are you doing?
[00:38:55] It's late.
[00:38:55] And I go, yeah, the police are here.
[00:38:57] What did you do?
[00:38:59] And told her what I did.
[00:39:01] And she goes, just get in the house, you know, get in the house.
[00:39:04] I'll deal with you tomorrow.
[00:39:06] The cops talk to my mom.
[00:39:07] My mom like somehow makes them go away.
[00:39:11] And the funny part was that I'm sitting in my room like freaked out, worried, right?
[00:39:16] Like I'm going to be in trouble.
[00:39:17] I don't know what I'm going to do.
[00:39:18] I'm 15 years old.
[00:39:19] I've been caught tagging on the wall.
[00:39:21] Yeah.
[00:39:21] It's Halloween, you know, whatever.
[00:39:23] And so my mom comes into the room and she's holding a tamale spoon.
[00:39:27] You know, the ones you mix the dough with the big long spoon.
[00:39:31] She looked, she grabbed it.
[00:39:33] She looked at me and she says, you're lucky I have to go to work.
[00:39:37] Otherwise, this is how you'd end your night.
[00:39:39] And so she didn't take it out on me.
[00:39:42] But she ended up, the cops ended up leaving the candy bag in the front of the house.
[00:39:46] And then the kids showed up, took the candy away.
[00:39:49] So I left that candy.
[00:39:50] I got in trouble.
[00:39:51] And that was my last Halloween.
[00:39:53] Freddie, tear me apart.
[00:39:55] Tearing me apart.
[00:39:57] Tearing me apart.
[00:39:59] Tearing me apart.
[00:40:00] Tearing me apart.
[00:40:01] Tearing me apart.
[00:40:01] No, but that's, that's the fun of it.
[00:40:03] You know, like those dumb little stories.
[00:40:04] You remember them.
[00:40:05] You run through those in your mind.
[00:40:06] You're like, wow.
[00:40:07] You know, can I tell you a spooky story?
[00:40:09] Sure, man.
[00:40:11] Have I told you guys about how I found out I was the devil?
[00:40:15] First of all, news to me.
[00:40:19] All right.
[00:40:19] So you guys know who Kukui is, right?
[00:40:22] Yeah.
[00:40:23] Yeah.
[00:40:23] Now different names, different places.
[00:40:25] They call it Kukui, Kuko.
[00:40:26] People don't know, didn't grow up in a Latino household.
[00:40:30] The boogeyman, right?
[00:40:31] Parents always, you know, if you don't behave, Kukui is going to get you.
[00:40:34] Don't behave.
[00:40:34] I don't know a single parent that did not say this in Brownsville.
[00:40:38] Right.
[00:40:40] Well, one day I'm working at Hollywood video back when video stories existed.
[00:40:44] Hollywood.
[00:40:44] And there was this little girl.
[00:40:47] I don't know, four or five, maybe six.
[00:40:49] Walking around, grabbing the candy, opening it up, taking a bite, throw it on the floor.
[00:40:52] Grab another candy, open it up, take a bite, throw it on the floor.
[00:40:55] So I'm following behind her.
[00:40:56] I had this little apron they made me wear back then.
[00:40:57] And I put the open candy in the apron for the open candy.
[00:41:00] Finally, I've got like a whole pile of candies here in this apron.
[00:41:03] And she gets up to where her mom is.
[00:41:04] And I go, excuse me, ma'am.
[00:41:06] Are you planning to buy these?
[00:41:08] And she doesn't look at me at all.
[00:41:10] Doesn't respond to me at all.
[00:41:11] She looks at the little girl and she says, you better behave or Kukui is going to get you.
[00:41:15] And she pointed me.
[00:41:16] And the little girl is like, oh, like, oh, I've been hearing about this guy my whole life.
[00:41:22] And there he is.
[00:41:23] And he was with the Hollywood video on fifth street.
[00:41:26] Yeah, exactly.
[00:41:26] And we all know mothers never lie.
[00:41:29] So that's how I found out.
[00:41:31] I'm Kukui.
[00:41:32] It was a shock to me.
[00:41:33] That's crazy.
[00:41:35] Did she end up paying for him though?
[00:41:37] No, she did not.
[00:41:38] Oh my God.
[00:41:40] I mean, did you even went with a bit?
[00:41:43] You literally went along with it.
[00:41:45] Yeah.
[00:41:47] No, man.
[00:41:48] Once I got a job, like, I just couldn't have any more fun.
[00:41:52] Once I got a job.
[00:41:53] You say that, but like my friends would come over.
[00:41:56] Let me backtrack.
[00:41:57] I was very much like in work mode when I was there.
[00:41:59] So somebody would come over and be like, you know what?
[00:42:02] If you might like this movie or this movie, or are you looking for this blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
[00:42:04] And somebody would go like, hey, hey, hey, it's me.
[00:42:07] Oh, oh yeah.
[00:42:09] Hi.
[00:42:09] Because I was in work mode.
[00:42:10] I didn't recognize friends I've known my whole life.
[00:42:12] I'm just like, you know.
[00:42:14] I was, I gave away.
[00:42:15] I used to work in fast food.
[00:42:16] And then I used to give food away.
[00:42:19] Like people would show up and like, hey man, I'm hungry.
[00:42:21] And I go, all right, cool, man.
[00:42:22] Here's some food.
[00:42:23] Blah, blah, blah, blah.
[00:42:24] What are they going to do?
[00:42:24] What are they going to do?
[00:42:26] I mean, what are they going to do?
[00:42:27] Well, what they could do is take it from my paycheck when they're like, hey, guess
[00:42:31] what?
[00:42:31] I saw that you gave away 150 bucks of meat.
[00:42:34] And I was like, oh, well.
[00:42:36] That's crazy.
[00:42:37] Yeah.
[00:42:38] Bye.
[00:42:39] Bye.
[00:42:42] Back at those days, like, you know, running around with your friends or just hanging
[00:42:44] out with family.
[00:42:45] You know, this time of year, like I said, coming to the end of the year.
[00:42:49] And, you know, I really want to just kind of reiterate that the community is important.
[00:42:54] You know, we tell these stories.
[00:42:56] We share some times together.
[00:42:57] This is fun, right?
[00:42:58] If it wasn't fun, we shouldn't do it.
[00:43:00] I know you and Izzy were talking about the last episode, right?
[00:43:04] If you have to clock in for work, you don't want to make everything else feel like a job
[00:43:08] either.
[00:43:08] You know?
[00:43:09] Yeah.
[00:43:09] That's why I enjoy these conversations.
[00:43:10] I enjoy talking with you guys.
[00:43:12] I enjoy the fact that we can promote each other's work.
[00:43:15] That we can get excited and hype about.
[00:43:17] I have an inkling force on Kickstarter.
[00:43:20] And Kevin, of course, your book's coming out next year.
[00:43:22] But we can still kind of get pumped for it, right?
[00:43:25] Oh, yeah.
[00:43:27] I also have World's War comics where the alternate covers will premiere at Mixamericon.
[00:43:32] You know what?
[00:43:33] I'm supposed to be getting a copy of that book at some point.
[00:43:36] You are getting a copy of that at Mixamericon.
[00:43:39] I'm waiting.
[00:43:41] So, literally this weekend, I'm going to be spending mailing out as many as I can.
[00:43:46] I am, however, making a list of people who I will see in the next couple weeks so I can
[00:43:50] be like, all right, one less package of the mail.
[00:43:52] I can just take this to you.
[00:43:53] Hey, yeah.
[00:43:53] Hey, I'll help with any shipping costs.
[00:43:56] Yeah.
[00:43:56] Make it happen.
[00:43:57] Save you some money.
[00:43:58] And then I'll be doing an, quote unquote, unboxing on my socials.
[00:44:03] I'll put it in a little thing.
[00:44:05] You're like, unbox the bag and pull it out of the bag.
[00:44:08] Yeah, no.
[00:44:09] Oh, that's, I'm surprised.
[00:44:10] It's a comic book.
[00:44:11] Who would have thought?
[00:44:12] Whoa, look at that.
[00:44:14] How did that get there?
[00:44:15] Think about it, man.
[00:44:17] We can be onto something.
[00:44:18] Because what's the biggest headache when you watch a social media video, an unboxing
[00:44:21] video, how long it takes to open it?
[00:44:24] Hey, if you watch my unboxing video, people were like, why didn't you do that live?
[00:44:27] I'm like, because I wanted to edit it.
[00:44:30] So literally, you watch my, it's like, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut.
[00:44:34] Yeah.
[00:44:34] No, funny enough.
[00:44:35] Like when I got my bundle from John Avenia, like he will package your stuff so it does
[00:44:40] not get damaged.
[00:44:41] Yes.
[00:44:42] Like, and yeah.
[00:44:43] And I was, and I, I started recording at the start, like, all right, let's open it up.
[00:44:47] And I had to cut out 15 minutes of me trying to get the puzzle of everything.
[00:44:52] Because he packed it well.
[00:44:53] Nothing was damaged.
[00:44:55] Everything was.
[00:44:55] That's true.
[00:44:56] The order from Avenia comic, your order will be safely.
[00:44:59] Yeah.
[00:45:00] I mean, I mean, like if I can find that footage, I'll just do like the outtakes of me like
[00:45:04] fighting the cardboard.
[00:45:06] But yeah.
[00:45:06] Wouldn't that be a fun channel to watch in?
[00:45:08] It's true.
[00:45:08] Like you swipe through your channel feed and you see somebody fighting a box to get it
[00:45:11] open.
[00:45:12] Just think about it.
[00:45:13] I would be like, hold on.
[00:45:14] Let's see how far they go.
[00:45:16] Yeah.
[00:45:17] It's just the unboxing.
[00:45:18] You don't see the item.
[00:45:19] Yeah.
[00:45:20] It's just the unboxing.
[00:45:20] It's just the unboxing.
[00:45:22] And it's, and you refuse to go get a tool.
[00:45:25] Yeah.
[00:45:25] Literally the label of the video is just unboxing.
[00:45:28] Yeah.
[00:45:28] Of what?
[00:45:29] Just, just unboxing.
[00:45:30] Just unboxing.
[00:45:30] Oh my God.
[00:45:31] I should do that.
[00:45:32] But don't tell John even though he, even if he watches this.
[00:45:35] John, I watch this all the time.
[00:45:37] Everybody, everybody watches my previous podcast.
[00:45:39] Everybody watches it.
[00:45:40] Available on YouTube.
[00:45:41] That's why we're airing our dirty laundry out here.
[00:45:43] You know what I mean?
[00:45:44] You know?
[00:45:45] But no, I think that he's fun.
[00:45:46] Speaking of which, I need to, oh, sorry.
[00:45:48] No, you mean you were, you do look very odd not wearing a weird print shirt.
[00:45:51] I guess my costume for Halloween is being normal.
[00:45:55] Man.
[00:45:56] Yeah.
[00:45:57] NPC number one.
[00:45:59] I love that.
[00:46:00] Man.
[00:46:01] I suck in Tifos.
[00:46:02] Give me a second.
[00:46:02] Tifos.
[00:46:03] Man.
[00:46:05] Oh, there we go.
[00:46:07] I try to, I try to wear my, my most like horror shirt I could find.
[00:46:11] This is the meteors.
[00:46:12] Look.
[00:46:13] I have, I have my horror mug and a spooky witch spoon.
[00:46:17] So.
[00:46:18] I'm the rainbow.
[00:46:19] I got the rainbow.
[00:46:20] Wee.
[00:46:20] You're the rainbow.
[00:46:21] You're the rainbow.
[00:46:22] My costume.
[00:46:23] I tried to get in costume and I couldn't find my wigs and it was too late.
[00:46:25] I should have worn my banana.
[00:46:26] I don't know why I didn't.
[00:46:28] I mean, yeah.
[00:46:29] You could have told everybody.
[00:46:29] Well, now we know what you're going to wear during Mixed American.
[00:46:31] Oh my God.
[00:46:33] Oof.
[00:46:33] Imagine.
[00:46:34] Are you going to be potassiumed out?
[00:46:35] It's too hot.
[00:46:36] It would be way too hot.
[00:46:37] It's too hot.
[00:46:38] I love y'all, but it'd be too hot.
[00:46:41] Isn't it supposed to rain in Mixed American?
[00:46:43] I don't know.
[00:46:44] No.
[00:46:44] We haven't had rain in like the, we've had like two drops of rain in the past month.
[00:46:48] And then we show me the one day it rains it's going to be Mixed American.
[00:46:50] I don't think so.
[00:46:51] Imagine.
[00:46:52] No, no, no.
[00:46:52] I swear to God.
[00:46:54] I swear to God.
[00:46:54] Freddie, if you make this happen, if you cause this to be a meme.
[00:46:57] I will drive to Fort Worth to fight you.
[00:47:00] Whoa.
[00:47:00] Whoa.
[00:47:01] What's fucking up is that you have to drive through Fort Worth to get to Austin and you,
[00:47:05] you, you swear at the other side of the fucking world.
[00:47:08] Um, no, no, no, no, no.
[00:47:10] I'm not going to, there's tents, right?
[00:47:13] What is that?
[00:47:14] That is rain on Saturday.
[00:47:16] Stop.
[00:47:17] Freddie, what are you doing?
[00:47:18] What are you doing to us?
[00:47:20] No, that's this Saturday though.
[00:47:21] No, I went ahead a week.
[00:47:22] No, Freddie, Freddie.
[00:47:24] Freddie.
[00:47:25] What are you doing to us, Freddie?
[00:47:26] Why did you not have this happen, Freddie?
[00:47:27] Oh my God.
[00:47:28] Yes, there are tents, but still Freddie, why are you doing this?
[00:47:30] Why are you doing this, huh?
[00:47:31] Hold on.
[00:47:32] You're kidding.
[00:47:33] You're like messing with me, right?
[00:47:34] It's like a screenshot.
[00:47:35] No, I pulled up the weather for Saturday, November 2nd.
[00:47:38] Hold, no.
[00:47:39] It's a 60% chance of rain.
[00:47:41] Yes.
[00:47:44] So, we must be.
[00:47:46] We're going to wear galoshes.
[00:47:49] Oh my God.
[00:47:50] Bring a poncho.
[00:47:51] No pun intended.
[00:47:52] Bring poncho and your poncho.
[00:47:54] And bring your boxing gloves, because we're fighting Freddie at the con.
[00:47:58] If anybody sees Freddie like crucified on the side of the stage.
[00:48:02] You won't see me.
[00:48:03] I'm not even like doing anything.
[00:48:05] I'm going to be like kind of hiding in the shadows, you know?
[00:48:06] You won't see me.
[00:48:07] Actually, Freddie's hosting the game show now.
[00:48:09] So, if you see him in the middle of the stage.
[00:48:12] Freddie, do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning?
[00:48:15] I don't know.
[00:48:16] I am a frog.
[00:48:18] That's right.
[00:48:19] When I get superpowers.
[00:48:20] Same thing that happens everything else.
[00:48:22] Oh, rib.
[00:48:23] No, so ribbit.
[00:48:25] I see that.
[00:48:25] I got it.
[00:48:26] Ribbit.
[00:48:27] Sure.
[00:48:28] Okay.
[00:48:28] If it's raining, I have to come out and say like, well, brought to you by Primo
[00:48:32] Freddie.
[00:48:33] I hope you're enjoying the weather.
[00:48:34] Yeah.
[00:48:35] Turn in the content.
[00:48:36] Oh, well.
[00:48:37] You know what?
[00:48:37] Recipitation brought to you by.
[00:48:39] Recipitation brought by.
[00:48:40] You know what?
[00:48:41] There's so much heat on the ground.
[00:48:43] We haven't rained in two months.
[00:48:44] And then of course.
[00:48:46] The minute I say something.
[00:48:48] Maybe global warming can be a little more extra and it'll dry out again.
[00:48:53] Thursday looks also pretty fun to be fair.
[00:48:55] It's all lightning bolts.
[00:48:57] Oh, good.
[00:48:57] But I mean, it's real though.
[00:48:59] It's like you said, it evaporates.
[00:49:01] It doesn't really, it's anything.
[00:49:02] It's a, you know.
[00:49:04] This year's Miss Americon brought to you by Petrichor.
[00:49:08] Ah, yes.
[00:49:09] The smell of rain.
[00:49:11] As it evaporates.
[00:49:12] The smell of pressure.
[00:49:12] Yep.
[00:49:14] I'm sorry guys.
[00:49:15] I didn't plan it.
[00:49:16] I just asked.
[00:49:17] You planned that.
[00:49:18] Actually, Petrichor.
[00:49:19] What?
[00:49:20] Fun fact, Petrichor is one of the words in one of these comic books.
[00:49:24] Nice.
[00:49:25] I love it.
[00:49:26] All the more reason to back the Kickstarter.
[00:49:28] Yep.
[00:49:28] I'm just saying.
[00:49:29] I'm just saying.
[00:49:30] I need that, that calendar, the, the cartoon a day calendar.
[00:49:34] Like I need that.
[00:49:34] I know.
[00:49:35] That's actually a good idea.
[00:49:36] Like my actually.
[00:49:37] You know what?
[00:49:38] I learned about this.
[00:49:39] I mean, I do have, let's see.
[00:49:41] So with this, I have 63 comics and then I still have every single one of my Ellie in a box comic strips, which is like 400.
[00:49:49] So I've already got a year's worth.
[00:49:51] Done.
[00:49:52] I'll just put them all together in one thing.
[00:49:53] We just make new product.
[00:49:55] Content was made.
[00:49:57] Oh my God.
[00:49:58] And it's already done.
[00:49:59] I don't have to draw anything.
[00:50:00] There you go.
[00:50:01] You gotta put them into cube form.
[00:50:03] Yeah.
[00:50:04] Those little like desk cubes.
[00:50:05] Who would buy it?
[00:50:06] Just drop it in the Spotify comments if you would buy it.
[00:50:10] Yeah.
[00:50:10] I'll make a poll out of it.
[00:50:12] Who would buy the calendar?
[00:50:14] Yeah.
[00:50:14] The Elia, the Elia a day.
[00:50:16] Yeah.
[00:50:16] Elia a day calendar.
[00:50:17] The Elia a day.
[00:50:19] There you go.
[00:50:20] The name works so well.
[00:50:24] Look at that.
[00:50:25] I'm full of ideas.
[00:50:26] It's a storm of ideas.
[00:50:27] It's gonna be called Elia a day.
[00:50:29] Heaven just once.
[00:50:31] Whoa.
[00:50:32] We, it's just one of the days, like on your birthday, it's just a drawing of you.
[00:50:36] It's just, and I'll just sit there like this.
[00:50:38] That's how custom it is.
[00:50:39] Yeah.
[00:50:40] Inside of a hole.
[00:50:41] Yeah.
[00:50:41] Oh yeah.
[00:50:42] Yeah.
[00:50:42] Yeah.
[00:50:43] Yeah.
[00:50:44] You're gonna surprise us one day with like a Kevin in a hole sticker or Kevin in a hole
[00:50:48] shirt.
[00:50:48] I feel like I need to.
[00:50:50] Yeah.
[00:50:51] I feel like if I bought Kevin a scarf, a black scarf and had him wrap his head around with
[00:50:55] a scarf like this, it would just be him in a hole.
[00:50:57] Yeah.
[00:50:57] That's it.
[00:50:57] I'll be happy with that.
[00:50:59] I'd be happy with that.
[00:51:00] You know what?
[00:51:00] It's not gonna rain.
[00:51:01] If I had a dime for every time I'd stuck my head in a hole.
[00:51:04] Whoa.
[00:51:04] Okay.
[00:51:05] And nothing.
[00:51:06] All right.
[00:51:07] I'm gonna keep that one alone.
[00:51:08] All right.
[00:51:08] I pushed the envelope Kevin, but today, today you pushed it further.
[00:51:12] Wise man.
[00:51:13] Um, no, it's not gonna, it's not gonna rain everybody.
[00:51:16] It's gonna be okay.
[00:51:16] It's gonna be beautiful weather.
[00:51:17] It's gonna be like cool 74 degrees.
[00:51:20] It's a nice little breeze.
[00:51:21] Uh, there'll be plenty of vendors.
[00:51:23] There'll be plenty of tables with people under.
[00:51:27] That part's all true.
[00:51:28] Uh, there'll be tents with people under them.
[00:51:31] Yeah.
[00:51:31] So much art, man.
[00:51:33] Some of the best artists that I know are gonna be there.
[00:51:36] Honestly, it's gonna be stacked.
[00:51:37] There's so many people.
[00:51:39] And also Kevin.
[00:51:40] Kevin will be there.
[00:51:41] The primos are gonna be there.
[00:51:42] All right.
[00:51:42] It's a rare occasion to see all of us together.
[00:51:45] Yeah.
[00:51:45] Everybody feels better.
[00:51:46] They look better.
[00:51:47] So, we'll be here.
[00:51:48] Okay.
[00:51:49] So I'm excited primos because we're gonna get.
[00:51:53] Elia's Kickstarter off the ground.
[00:51:54] We're gonna make this thing blow up.
[00:51:55] We want to get it funded like in a day.
[00:51:57] Okay.
[00:51:58] Gonna go bananas.
[00:51:59] Gonna go bananas.
[00:52:01] Right.
[00:52:03] Elia, you're gonna give us some kind of banana dance when it goes, gets funded in one day.
[00:52:06] Okay.
[00:52:07] That's what we need.
[00:52:08] You know what?
[00:52:09] If it gets funded the first day, I will, I will dance continuously on stream.
[00:52:15] Do the banana dance.
[00:52:16] Turn it into a gift where we go.
[00:52:17] Actually, yeah.
[00:52:17] I promise right now.
[00:52:18] If we get it funded in one day, the next stream I do after the first day, I will wear
[00:52:24] the banana costume the entire time.
[00:52:25] And if it gets funded in two days, it'll be you and the banana costume doing this.
[00:52:30] Yeah.
[00:52:32] Or it should be a different fruit.
[00:52:34] I don't know.
[00:52:35] A banana.
[00:52:35] That's what takes three days.
[00:52:36] I have sushi on hand.
[00:52:38] I can either be a banana or sushi.
[00:52:40] It's like every couple of days it takes you to fund this.
[00:52:43] She's gonna have to get farther from the banana and that's just not good.
[00:52:46] We need that banana content.
[00:52:49] We need banana content.
[00:52:51] Banana.
[00:52:51] The content, the content, the content.
[00:52:54] There's no pun there.
[00:52:55] If only I had a book of banana puns that would help me.
[00:52:58] We need a book of like nice.
[00:53:02] It should be like in comic form.
[00:53:04] Something where we could like read it and immediately.
[00:53:07] Yeah.
[00:53:07] Like what Elia's got.
[00:53:08] Something like that.
[00:53:10] There it is.
[00:53:11] Hey, wait, what do you have?
[00:53:13] I would kickstart that.
[00:53:16] Well, you don't have to because it's already made.
[00:53:18] You can just buy this at Mexamerican.
[00:53:21] Wow.
[00:53:22] A scene full of banana puns in full color.
[00:53:26] What is that mean?
[00:53:27] Am I shitting bananas?
[00:53:29] I am.
[00:53:30] Is there any more of this?
[00:53:32] Like if you were to like open up that magazine, would anything happen?
[00:53:35] I mean, I don't, I don't know.
[00:53:37] You like usually when you open up a zine, there's just a piece of paper.
[00:53:40] I don't know.
[00:53:40] What's that?
[00:53:41] Mia's the Mona Lisa banana.
[00:53:44] What?
[00:53:44] The banana Lisa.
[00:53:46] That's crazy.
[00:53:48] What?
[00:53:48] The Penelia Lisa.
[00:53:50] The Penelia.
[00:53:51] Five dollars at Mexamerican.
[00:53:53] That is awesome.
[00:53:54] That is awesome.
[00:53:55] Kevin Garcia.
[00:53:55] This is my first zine.
[00:53:56] And funny enough.
[00:53:57] So I, I prototype this zine here.
[00:54:01] Here's a different like things.
[00:54:02] So this is the first prototype of it.
[00:54:04] I made it at Dr.
[00:54:06] Aldama's workshops.
[00:54:09] There was a workshop.
[00:54:10] Yeah.
[00:54:10] And I ended up making it with like all this watching tape.
[00:54:13] And I'm like, you know what?
[00:54:14] I'm going to redraw it and get them printed.
[00:54:17] And that's, that's where the origin was.
[00:54:20] It was born in Austin.
[00:54:21] It's debuting in Austin.
[00:54:23] Somewhere.
[00:54:23] Professor Lant-Nex is grabbing his temples and going, I have a headache.
[00:54:26] I did it.
[00:54:27] He felt a tingle.
[00:54:28] He's like, someone's spoken my name.
[00:54:31] You're right behind you, Kevin.
[00:54:32] You know, you live in the same town too.
[00:54:34] There he is.
[00:54:34] No?
[00:54:35] There he is.
[00:54:36] There he is.
[00:54:37] But speaking of which, you know, we're going to be in town together and we'll,
[00:54:39] we'll have a blast.
[00:54:40] I'm excited to see everybody there face to face.
[00:54:42] You know, me and Ella technically live near each other.
[00:54:46] Not really.
[00:54:47] We do.
[00:54:47] I make, I, I, I bitch and moan so much about how far Fort Worth is when it's right there.
[00:54:53] Can I really quickly side point on that?
[00:54:56] So I'm going to be visiting Britain for the first time.
[00:55:00] And I was contacting a friend of mine in Wales and I'll be in London.
[00:55:03] And I was like, Hey, you know, maybe we could meet up.
[00:55:05] And mind you, he's the entire country away.
[00:55:09] But I checked the map.
[00:55:11] It would take the same amount of time for me to drive to Dallas.
[00:55:14] That's hilarious.
[00:55:16] So yeah.
[00:55:16] So that's what Elia.
[00:55:18] She'd rather drive to San Antonio than to drive to Fort Worth to have dinner.
[00:55:23] Okay.
[00:55:24] I'm just putting it out there.
[00:55:26] I believe it.
[00:55:27] I'm a Fort Worth denier.
[00:55:29] Seriously.
[00:55:30] It doesn't exist.
[00:55:31] It's just like a mountain.
[00:55:32] It's like she drives by, it's like she's driving by a shantytown.
[00:55:36] It doesn't exist.
[00:55:37] I will recognize Fort Worth's existence if they can actually turn blue this election.
[00:55:42] Okay.
[00:55:43] Whoa.
[00:55:44] Let's make it happen guys.
[00:55:45] Vote.
[00:55:46] By the way, when this voting is actually coming up.
[00:55:48] Early voting is open.
[00:55:50] Yeah.
[00:55:50] Early voting is open.
[00:55:51] I have done a civic duty.
[00:55:53] You've done, you've done one civic duty.
[00:55:56] One civic duty.
[00:55:57] How did it feel?
[00:55:58] It felt beautiful.
[00:55:58] It felt beautiful.
[00:56:01] Yeah.
[00:56:01] I ain't going to jail.
[00:56:02] I'm staying inside locked in my house.
[00:56:04] Y'all can't catch me outside.
[00:56:05] Probably for the safe-ness.
[00:56:07] Honestly.
[00:56:08] It's probably safe.
[00:56:09] Yeah.
[00:56:10] Be safe.
[00:56:11] You know, if you're getting into this and early voting is still available in your area,
[00:56:13] especially, I know in Texas it is.
[00:56:15] Just check the website.
[00:56:17] It tells you what facilities are.
[00:56:18] Because you can go to any facility in your county.
[00:56:22] Anything at home.
[00:56:24] Any.
[00:56:24] Have your ID.
[00:56:26] Yeah, your ID at times.
[00:56:28] Yeah.
[00:56:29] Times do differ.
[00:56:30] So there's some that close at 5, some at 7.
[00:56:32] They're open on Saturdays by the way.
[00:56:34] So there's no excuse.
[00:56:36] Get informed.
[00:56:38] Know who you're voting for.
[00:56:39] And remember, think about La Comunidad.
[00:56:42] Just saying.
[00:56:43] Every day.
[00:56:43] All the time.
[00:56:44] All the time.
[00:56:45] We're going to close the shop here today because not only are we prepping for con this week,
[00:56:51] right?
[00:56:51] We're prepping for the show.
[00:56:52] I'm excited.
[00:56:52] You guys can join us.
[00:56:53] I'm sure there'll be footage of us out there having a blast.
[00:56:56] And once we're in the mix, you know, it's just going to, we're going to walk away
[00:56:59] and go, man, we survived the tornado.
[00:57:02] I mean, we survived the heat.
[00:57:04] Yeah.
[00:57:05] Tsunami.
[00:57:06] Tsunami.
[00:57:07] No, it's going to be fine, guys.
[00:57:08] Nothing's going to happen.
[00:57:09] Nothing's going to happen.
[00:57:11] Nothing's going to happen.
[00:57:11] So remember, if you want to get wet, Freddie's the one who can get you wet.
[00:57:15] Come to Mexamerican.
[00:57:16] If you want to get wet, come to Mexamerican.
[00:57:20] Do you like to be moist?
[00:57:21] No, I got it.
[00:57:22] I got it.
[00:57:22] I got it.
[00:57:23] You ready?
[00:57:24] You ready?
[00:57:25] Mm-hmm.
[00:57:27] Oh, no.
[00:57:33] Everyone in Mexicon.
[00:57:34] Mexa-lui, Mexa-lui, Mexa-lui.
[00:57:35] Almost had it.
[00:57:36] Almost had it.
[00:57:37] Oh, wait.
[00:57:38] Take two, take two.
[00:57:39] Take two.
[00:57:39] Take two.
[00:57:40] Take two, though.
[00:57:42] Everyone that makes American is guaranteed to get wet.
[00:57:46] You heard it.
[00:57:47] There you go.
[00:57:48] From Freddie's lips to your wetness.
[00:57:50] Mm-hmm.
[00:57:51] The wet lips.
[00:57:52] The wetness.
[00:57:53] What? Sorry.
[00:57:54] What?
[00:57:54] It's a lip.
[00:57:57] But we are going to be there.
[00:57:58] It's going to be fun.
[00:57:59] And if they fill a hole, you have Kevin.
[00:58:01] We need somebody to get you wet.
[00:58:02] Yeah.
[00:58:03] The wetness.
[00:58:03] Mm-hmm.
[00:58:05] And we usually need a hint of spice if I'm available.
[00:58:08] Well.
[00:58:10] If I'm there.
[00:58:11] If your blood pressure is too high, let's have him.
[00:58:15] Listen.
[00:58:15] I'm out.
[00:58:16] Yeah.
[00:58:16] That's what it is.
[00:58:18] But pretty much, of course, remember, guys, I want you guys to please, please, please,
[00:58:21] please, please, please don't forget our seriousness, of course.
[00:58:23] We want to make sure you check in on each other.
[00:58:25] Make sure you're safe out there, like Kevin said.
[00:58:26] Just be safe.
[00:58:27] Go vote.
[00:58:28] Of course, do your civic duty.
[00:58:30] Make sure you make your voice heard.
[00:58:31] Yeah.
[00:58:32] If we don't go out there and do something, then we can't bitch about it later.
[00:58:35] Right?
[00:58:35] Exactly.
[00:58:36] Exactly.
[00:58:37] I think that, you know, I speak for everybody here when I say that, you know, we really,
[00:58:40] really, really, really want the community to look out for each other.
[00:58:43] And the best way to do that is to look out for these elections, you know, not only for
[00:58:47] every four years.
[00:58:48] Remember, there's elections happening all the time.
[00:58:50] They affect your neighborhood.
[00:58:51] They affect your school.
[00:58:52] They affect everything around you.
[00:58:53] Like, just not ignore it, you know.
[00:58:55] Because we ignore things, they get out of hand.
[00:58:57] And let's not ignore this round.
[00:58:59] It's a big one.
[00:59:00] So, I hope Primo's out there to take this to heart and really go out there.
[00:59:04] You know, make sure your voice is heard.
[00:59:06] But of course, we're going to end on a high note.
[00:59:08] Of course, remember, we have the Kickstarter for I Have an Inkling.
[00:59:11] It will be live November 1st.
[00:59:12] Let's make sure we can get Elena Banana Suit.
[00:59:14] I want to see that.
[00:59:16] Follow her at Spice Illustrations.
[00:59:17] And of course, search the Kickstarter for I Have an Inkling or Elena Maria.
[00:59:21] I appreciate it.
[00:59:22] And of course, Mr. Kevin Garcia dot com.
[00:59:25] Keep an eye on his feed.
[00:59:27] How big are you now on TikTok, man?
[00:59:29] You're like untouchable, right?
[00:59:30] I am this big.
[00:59:32] But like, it still counts.
[00:59:33] This big.
[00:59:34] I am this big.
[00:59:35] And of course, if you want to follow us, of course, you know, maybe the runoff from Kevin
[00:59:39] Garcia will one day, you know, impact the rest of the team here.
[00:59:42] I don't know if you want the runoff from this hole.
[00:59:46] Whoa.
[00:59:46] Ooh.
[00:59:47] Wow.
[00:59:48] Anyway, thanks for watching.
[00:59:49] You win for Kevin Garcia.
[00:59:50] Thank you.
[00:59:51] And we'll be right back.
[00:59:54] Now, Primos Bogars, take care of each other.
[00:59:56] You know, I want to thank you guys for listening.
[00:59:57] We'll see you next time.
[00:59:59] And remember, no matter where you're from, we're all primos.
[01:00:02] Take care.
